Weber State star Damian Lillard and Montana star Will Cherry are the top two point guards in the Big Sky, two of the top scorers in the league — and former teammates.
Lillard played at Oakland High; Cherry attended McClymonds High in Oakland with injured Wildcat Frank “Mook” Otis, but he and Lillard played on the same travel team and are good friends.
Not tonight.
When Weber State and Montana tip off with the Big Sky title on the line, it’s going to be a battle.
“We’re both Oakland kids so we understand that friendship is friendship, but when you get on the court, it doesn’t exist,” Lillard said. “He knows that, I know it. When we get on the court, I want to beat him as bad as he wants to beat me.”
