Two more Weber State football assistants to be named

New Weber State coach John L. Smith’s staff is nearly in place.

Smith added quarterbacks coach Justin Rascati, who played for him at Louisville before transferring to James Madison, where he won an FCS championship in 2004. Most relevant to Weber State fans: Rascati’s James Madison Dukes beat Montana in that title game.

Former Eastern Washington defensive end Jason Belford will join Smith’s staff as the defensive line coach.

The biggest question remaining is who will be the Wildcats defensive coordinator.

Smith has made other hires but is waiting for background checks and university paperwork to be signed off.

Next week will be a significant recruiting weekend for the Wildcats, so Smith would like to have his staff in place before then.
