NASCAR driver Dennis Setzer got out of his crushed, burning car Sunday, which is difficult to believe. At speeds approaching 200 mph at Talladega in Alabama, Setzer was caught in a multi-car smashup, shown in the NASCAR video below.
The Setzer crash is at the 1:50 mark of the clip.
Three or four crashes in NASCAR races over the past two years have been of similar degrees of violence, but the drivers have survived without much injury. The cockpits apparently are engineered so well, the driver’s in a cocoon of safety that is counterintuitive to anyone who watches the breathtaking crackups.
Oh, the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series races Sunday both were especially exciting and competitive. I want to see a race at Talladega sometime.
