Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) was recognized today by the National Taxpayers Union (NTU), a national nonprofit, nonpartisan citizen group as one of the nation’s top “Taxpayers’ Friends” by achieving a 90 percent, or “A” rating on votes cast dealing with fiscal policy.
The NTU’s annually rates Members of Congress on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy, and America’s taxpayers; including taxes, spending and regulatory burdens.
“I am pleased to be honored by this well-respected organization for the positions I have taken on responsible fiscal policy,” stated Hatch. “This is of particular importance now when many in Congress are more concerned with spending and adding to our nation’s debt, than instituting fiscal reforms that will put our country on a greater path to real job creation and financial prosperity.
“The National Taxpayers Union has worked for lower taxes, less government and economic freedom for many years and I appreciate the work they do in helping to bring fiscal sanity back to Washington. I look forward to continuing to work on issues of great fiscal importance for the future of our nation, and our families.”
Only 16 Senators were named as “Taxpayers’ Friends” by the NTU, and only 37 House Members.
