A chat with professional boxer Christian Nava

Today’s mini-interview is with Logan middleweight boxer Christian Nava, who is also a professional in mixed martial arts. A couple of Fridays ago at the Ogden Marriott Christian fought an exciting, very close preliminary bout with Miguel Flores, of Twin Falls, Idaho. Nava lost a majority decision but boxing fans hope the pair can be re-matched soon. As it happens, Nava may be fighting an MMA fight in Logan on May 18 at the Eccles Ice Arena. Here’s the interview with Christian:

1) What sparked your interest in boxing?

Nava: “My dad is the reason I fight.”

2) Who are some boxers who inspire you and why?

Nava: “Evander Holyfield, because all the medical problems he’s going through and still he’s fighting; he never gave up. And there is Mayweather. He is the best, nobody can beat him. He is so smooth and so chill in the ring.

3) What are your goals in your boxing career?

Nava: “My goals in boxing are to become world champion and make a name for myself in the boxing game!”

4) What’s the most important training component in boxing?

Nava: “For me, I think it’s cardio and speed and legs; you have to have strong legs.
