So a friend asked me “what do you think Obama will say on Tuesday?” and I said, probably a troop increase because if he doesn’t then he’ll be blamed forever more for losing afghanistan even though it really is W’s FUBAR, pure and simple.
Then he said “Do you think the news will even cover it? I mean, what if they’re still going on about Tiger Woods?”
Gotta agree with him there — it is impossible to imagine how Tiger Woods, who is famous for playing a game well, rates the sort of coverage he is getting for his apparent inability to drive a car well. He dinged up his car, he got a coupla scratches, his wife had to use a golf club to break a window to get him out and, well, that’s that. So far it’s getting as much ink as the Afghan war and more than Iraq.
So my friend may be right — if Tiger drags this out it may push Obama off the networks — unless those guys who crashed the White House state dinner the other night do manage to get some network to pay them half a million to be interviewed.
In that case, even Tiger Woods will get bumped. War? What war?
“This is your business,” my friend said at the end. Sadly, he’s right.
